Dog Rescue

Thanks to everyone who helped Willie!

He is recovering very well and his quality of life has dramatically improved. For those who aren't familiar with Willie, he was rescued by Westminster Pet Rescue in Sept '07. The breeder brought Willie into the vet to have him euthanized due to his crippled leg. The vet refused and Westminster rescued him and our house fostered Willie. This foster ended when Willie's amputation and neuter occured, as we decided to adopt him. Willie is a very sweet dog and has fit into our house of 4 children and 5 cats very well, most times it is good as the cats don't always appreciate his presence.

Willie's operation cost $2224 and the rescue had some money available; however, our mission to support rescue perpetuated with Willie. We decided to have a fundraiser to pay for Willie's operation. One of our staff, Frank, a talented artist profiled on "Regional Contact", offered to donate a pet portrait in a raffle which ultimately collected $2624 for Westminster. Of this amount Willie's operation was paid for and the rescue received $400 extra. Westminster had $600 set aside for Willie and was able to use this money for the other animals in the rescue.

We thank you for generous donations, 100% of your money went to help rescued animals. Please checking our site and store, as the need to help these rescued animals never ends. We will continually have raffles and programs to raise money for these cash starved rescues.

Thanks to Frank van Boxtel for donating the pet portait for the draw.
