WE NEED YOU TO FOSTER A DOG!

We have more dogs needing help than we have foster homes available to take them. We need fosters homes. We need you.

Fosters homes provide food and love. We provide the vet care and guidance. If you have room for one more, we can rescue one more. Foster dogs stay with you until they are adopted. Young healthy happy dogs are adopted in no time. Blind and grumpy old men take significantly longer. We don't force dogs on you - which ones you volunteer to foster are your choice.

We always hear "I could never foster. I couldn't give the dogs up" and a lot of foster homes do end up adopting a special foster dog, but once you see how many dogs need a foster home, you understand that giving them up is the kindest thing to do. The dogs end up in great homes and you get to help another one.  Please contact us if you are interested in fostering. There are unwanted dachshunds right now that would like to enter the rescue, but we have no place to put them.

We're having a Paw-ty and you're invited! "Paws for a Cause ~ A Fun Fair for Families & Dogs"

The rescues are having a fun fair at The Paws Way in downtown Toronto on November 22nd, from 12-5. There will be activities for the kids, and for you and the dogs. Admittance is free, and you can participate in activities by purchasing tickets. All profits go to the rescues and participating rescues (like us!) will have a booth there. Canadian Dachshund Rescue (CDR) was founded in 2001 by the Canadian members of US Dachshund rescues. We felt there was the need for a dachshund rescue here, but we didn't know how great that need was. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of dachshunds needing new homes and we can only rescue as many dogs as we have foster homes to keep them in and dollars to pay the vet bills. CDR has helped over 700 dachshunds and dachshund mixes find forever homes. With your help we will save many more. Consider fostering, volunteering, or donating to help dachshunds in need.

You can donate online to Canadian Dachshund Rescue through the umbrella rescue fundraising registered charity group, K9 Rescue Me. You will get a tax receipt for donations over $25. Please mention Canadian Dachshund Rescue in the messages area or the money won't get to us.
